Why

The scope of this programme will allow graduates to move into a whole range of careers in industry, commerce and public sector.

How

This course provides strong technical skills with an emphasis placed on the application of the knowledge learned. In other words, students are expected to complete specific work tasks, while on-going continuous assessment, teaching and learning methods in a supportive environment, ensure that students become proficient in time management.

All of the programmes in the School of Business include a blend of assessments and exams. The blend of assessments allows students to develop key skills for the workplace including project management, organisation skills, team building and conflict management.

Good to know

Each academic year the School of Business organises “Pathways to Success”, a seminar day which allows students to plan their move from college to industry and includes a number of guest speakers. In 2017 one of the guest speakers was Dr. Norah Patten, Ireland’s first scientist astronaut candidate who spoke about “The Impact of Life Experiences and Education in Achieving Dreams”.

Career Opportunities

The Business programme as the name suggests is designed to equip students with a broad range of skills to allow them secure employment across a range of functional business areas. Our graduates work in different industries performing roles mainly in Human Resource Management, Finance, Operations and Marketing.

“I worked in various positions over the last 25 years and due to unforeseen circumstances I then found myself out of work. Upon reviewing various positions in the employment sector I noted that a lot of companies required a formal qualification so I made a decision to return to education and acquire a degree.

The modules covered include Marketing, Human Resources, European Studies, Maths and Accountancy, Sustainable Business to name a few. Group work is a must in the majority of the modules which is great for working together as a team.

I would advise all students to attend classes and most importantly tutorials as this is where you get extra support on any matter.

I find the lecturers very approachable and they will guide you in the right direction on any matter. They ask you challenging questions to ensure you get a better understanding of the matter you have asked of them”.
