ITB Sports Management and Coaching students visit National Sports Campus

ITB’s fourth year sports students began the new semester with a short trip across to the National Sports Campus for a window into how video is used to support player development at FAI HQ.

FAI’s Head of Performance Analysis, Ger Dunne, took some time out of his busy schedule to show students the state of the art recording system infrastructure which is in place around the training pitches. In the control room he demonstrated how the system works in practice with multiple teams using the facility.

Under the supervision of their lecturer, Denise Martin, the students will be delivering video analysis support to various teams and sports this semester, so they were keen to hear about Ger’s experience as analyst to Martin O’Neill and the Irish Senior team. He spoke to them about his role, how they prepare for games and the challenges of video analysis at major tournaments in what was a very enjoyable and insightful visit.
